Wrong kind of Snow?
Remember in 1991 when we had the wrong kind of snow for British Rail to keep the tracks clear, well I have the wrong kind of images for the image editing workshop!
No seriously, amongst my 1,000’s of images - I never seem to have taken photos of interesting doorways, signs, vintage writing or wonderful faces. My image library is full of flowers and gardens (Note to self, must get out more)
One of my goals for myself and this course is to try and combine my textile images and photographic images and I am seriously beginning to wish there were more hours in the day, or rather more hours that I can sit in front of the computer without these old bones complaining.
I have fallen in love with masking and blending images together and below is the result of this mornings work.
The textile piece is “Standing Stones”, combined with my favourite angel and some music from a welsh hymn book.

Hi Karen
I like it. I like the standing stones and that you can see through to the angel & the music. Not sure about the necklace (?) as to whether it is too prominent or not.The necklace does not look part of it. Maybe that is the effect you wanted? As you can see I am no art expert or indeed an artist!!
Hi Mary, and thanks for leaving a comment - on reflection I think you are probably right - on the original textile standing stones, the amulet worked perfectly, and on this image it does look a bit “Ploppy” but I was so excited about masking and blending for the first time that I didn’t consider the image as a whole - think of it as work in progress
Really appreciated you dropping in
K
Hi
What a coincidence. I have just made a list of the kind of images I need to take for my resource files. I have been scrutinising all my images for parts of images which can be selected. This is a lovely composite and great to see you back with image and stitch.
What did you print onto?
Cheers
I like it. Perhaps the amulet could be softened a bit, but I have to say I hadn’t actually noticed how promninent it was. I was too taken with the rest of the image. As we have said before, each to his own. It is just as well we don’t all like the same thing. How boring that would be.
Like it - like the way the necklace stones reflect the standing stones. I’m hoping to get started tomorrow!
Isn’t DJ’s class fun!? I am really learning a lot and am somewhat obsessed at the moment with it all. A friend wants to go to the movies today and I am not sure I can pull my self away from the pixels…lol
o but I love flowers and gardens .This is a beautiful compound image with lots going on ,but I think it all works together…imagined music.
You could bring your camera around here Ive got a few different door ways and things. Take it tomorrow there will be loads of faces (maybe no all lovely) there and a few good door ways.
How lovely, Karen. Life crazy, have been hoping to grasp a moment to see this creative side of your life. *BUSY HUGS*
This is beautiful, Karen. I love the composition of this piece. The music and the angel are wonderful touches. I hope to see more of your works here!!
I totally love this, very mystical.
