flue-strikes

I dont know if it is flue or some other bug - but it has wiped me out for the past 4 days -

To-day I am vertical - but week as a kitten.

But I think I am about to collapse in the horizontal any second now

Back in the Studio

messy-studio

When I walked into the studio this morning - this was the sight that greeted me - and it was like this all over!

Very very messy! Just before Christmas I had made some broaches for family and friends - and it seemed to involve rummaging through an awful lot of my “stash” to find the right bits of fabric. I haven’t been in there for the past two weeks - so to-day was spent tidying up and sorting out.  For a view of my other desk,  now its tidy click here!

I have lost my place a little bit - as the momentum that I had before Christmas has dissipated somewhat - but it will return.

Happy New Year Everyone - may it be filled with wonderful creativeness

A Finished Piece …

spiral-and-wood

I finished this little piece a week or so ago, but I have let it “sit” for a while to make sure I didn’t want to add anything and to-day I decided it was OK - although as yet it has no name.

The finished work is approximately 20cms x 20cms (7 inches x 7 inches), so quite small.

Materials used include tissue paper, tissutex,  bond-a-web, fibres, copper, beads, wood, leaves and hand stitching.

For a good cause.

One of my “Garden blogging” friends was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, her blog “The Journey” is an account of how she is dealing with the cancer, and the treatment.  By way of a thank you, Zoe has decided to raise money for Macmillan, and she is doing this on a new blog - called Christmas Greetings.  Zoe is writing a daily series of posts revolving around Christmas and the Winter Solstice.  To tempt you to make a donation, she is also giving away a signed copy of Sarah Raven’s Complete  Christmas.

I made this piece to-day, which I am sending to Zoe - so that she can give it away on her blog. After I did it I thought perhaps I should have done something “Christmasy” to remain in keeping with her Christmas Greetings, but for some reason - my work seems quite summery at the moment.

If you get a chance do pop along to Zoe’s site, she is an interesting writer and it is well worth visiting any / all of her blogs.

Who knows - if you donate - you may be the lucky winner of Sarah Ravens book.
